Wow, is this a rare piece of stoneware and a hard to find artifact from Manlius' past! This little crock is marked in blue stencil The Bell Seed Co. Manlius, N.Y. Let me tell you I scanned the entire internet from Google to WorthPoint to eBay, etc. and found only 1 other example of stoneware marked The Bell Seed Company. I'd say that this dates to about 1910. It's only 3 3/8" tall and 5 3/4" across. It is more like a butter crock. I'm not sure why a seed company would use a butter crock, but here it is. The crock is in very good condition. There is a small 1/4" wide chip off the base on the side, and there is a glaze pop just under the front rim that was clearly done when the crock was fired. Please see photos.Crock and stoneware collectors will enjoy this "survivor" as will anyone who appreciates the history of Manlius, NY. Lucky buyer please add .75 shipping.
